Hi, I'm Kate, and I turned 45 last week. I'm a software engineer who has gone back to university to do post grad work in Bioinformatics, since genetics was always my first love before I was seduced by coding. I play the cello. I love hiking and cats. And I've just got engaged to someone adorable who has no interest in games whatsoever (beyond Go).

I'm mostly new to KoL. I played for a couple of weeks a few years back and ascended exactly once, but for whatever reason I'm much more immersed in it this time. Sorry if I'm quiet on chat; I'm kinda shy until I get to know people, which I'm doing slowly, at least the people who play at the same time I do (mostly evenings NZST). Many of the conversations go over my head, but I'm learning a lot from them. Thanks, clannies!
